Living With Intention, Clarity, Compassion Every Day

To live our lives with clear intention, clarity in our action, and compassion in our heart...how our loved ones and community would benefit! 

How many of us have given ourselves to everything other than our own needs and dreams, denying our own joy for months, perhaps years? 

In the Lakota Code of Ethics, from the Native American Wisdom Page, it states, "Be true to yourself first. You cannot nurture and help others if you cannot nurture and help yourself first."  

I remember an elderly woman friend telling me this type of idea was self-serving and selfish in its meaning.  

"No," I told her. 

If you are not taking care of yourself first, and if you are not happy within your being, nothing else can make you that way. No perfect house, husband, car, or job can make your life "true."

If you look in the mirror and appreciate your own integrity, the sparkle in your eyes, the value you bring to life, that is because you are true to yourself and live in that truth, and can then nurture and help others.
